NGC 47 (also NGC 58, IRAS 00119-0726, MCG -1-1-55 and PGC 967) is a magnitude +13.1 spiral galaxy located 262 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus.

The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Wilhelm Tempel using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/19 refracting telescope at the Arcetri Observatory in 1886.

The galaxy was rediscovered by Lewis Swift on the 21st October 1886 and relisted as NGC 58.

Position (J2000): R.A. 00h 14m 30.5s  |  Dec. -07° 10' 04"

It appears as a small, faint spiral nebula with a bright core and is slightly oval.
