NGC 546 (also ESO 296-25, IRAS 01229-3819, MCG -6-4-29 and PGC 5255) is a magnitude +13.7 barred spiral galaxy located 299 million light-years away in the constellation Sculptor.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town on the 23rd October 1835.
