NGC 1518 (also ESO 550-7, IRAS 04046-2118, MCG -4-10-13 and PGC 14475) is a magnitude +11.8 barred spiral galaxy located 42 million light-years away in the constellation Eridani.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town on the 13th November 1835.
