NGC 7309 (also MCG -2-57-16, IRAS22317-1036 and PGC 69183) is a magnitude +12.5 barred spiral galaxy located 184 million light-years away in the constellation of Aquarius.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 28th November 1785.
