NGC 5598 (also MCG 7-30-4, UGC 9209 and PGC 51354) is a magnitude +13.0 lenticular galaxy located 251 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road in Slough, Berkshire, on the 29th April 1788.
