NGC 3042 (also MCG 0-25-30, UGC 5307 and PGC 28498) is a magnitude +12.9 edge-on spiral galaxy located 177 million light-years away in the constellation Sextans.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Albert Marth using a 121.92 cm (48 inch) speculum reflector at William Lassell's Tigné Point observatory in Sliema, Malta, on the 30th April 1864.
