NGC 6740 (UGC 11388, MCG 5-45-1, IRAS18587+2841 and PGC 62675) is a magnitude +13.9 spiral galaxy located 200 million light-years away in the constellation Lyra.
The spiral galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Albert Marth using a 121.92 cm (48 inch) reflector in Malta on the 28th June 1864.
