NGC 2830 (also Arp 315, MCG 6-21-14, UGC 4941 and PGC 26371) is a magnitude +13.9 almost edge-on barred spiral galaxy located 280 million light-years away in the constellation Lynx.
The galaxy along with NGC 2831 and NGC 2832 are listed as Arp 315 in the Atlas of peculiar galaxies by Halton Arp. The galaxy triplet Arp 315 is part of the larger Abell 779 galaxy cluster which contains 83 galaxies.

The galaxy is usually listed as being discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel, using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 7th December 1785; however it is likely that Herschel actually discovered NGC 2832.
NGC 2830 was likely first discovered by Anglo-Irish astronomer George Stoney using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr castle on the 13th March 1850.
