Chinese rocket launch fails one hour after lift-off

A powerful rocket, the Long March-5 Y2, has failed an hour after lift-off from Hainan island.
It had been taking a seven-tonne communications satellite into space. No further details were released by Chinese state media, other than that an "anomaly" was detected.
The rocket blasted off from the Wenchang Space Launch Centre at 7:23 pm (1123 GMT).

China's Launch Of Second Heavy-Lift Carrier Rocket 'Long March-5 Y2' Fails

China's attempt to launch its second heavy-lift carrier rocket 'Long March-5 Y2' today failed after abnormity was detected during the flight, official media reported.
Abnormity was detected during the flight of the rocket, which blasted off at 7:23 pm (local time) from Wenchang Space Launch Center in southern province of Hainan, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Further investigation will be carried out, it said. The rocket was due to carry the heaviest Shijian-18 satellite.

A Long March-5 carrier rocket has arrived in Wenchang in south China's Hainan Province, for the launch of the Shijian-18 communication satellite, scheduled for June, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation said Saturday.

China's 2nd heavy rocket transported by sea ahead of launch

The second Long March 5, China's own heavy-lift launch vehicle (HLLV), has arrived at southern China's Wenchang city, where it will be launched in June.
The rocket was transported from its factory in Tianjin to Wenchang by sea in six days, longer than expected as a result of a sudden weather change.
The rocket is scheduled to launch in June, sending the Shijian-18 communication satellite into Earth's orbit.

China's Long March-5 Y2 carrier rocket leaves for launch site

China's Long March-5 Y2 carrier rocket departed northern China's Tianjin Port for the launch base in southern Hainan Monday.
Monday is also China's second Space Day, which was chosen to mark the anniversary of the country's first satellite launch Dongfanghong-1 in 1970.
Carried by special rocket-carrying ships, the rocket will arrive in Wenchang, Hainan Province, for the scheduled launching of the Shijian-18 communication satellite in June.
