NGC 5605 (also known as IRAS 14223-1256, MCG -2-37-3 and PGC 51492) is a magnitude +12.3 face-on barred spiral galaxy located about 156 million light-years away in the constellation Libra.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 11th May 1784. John Herschel observed the galaxy on the 8th May 1831.
