The tourist industry in Kerala, India, had been waiting for a long gap for the blooming of Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes Kunthiana). It is reported that the flower exhibits the beauty of the divine.
Neelakurinji is a shrub that used to grow abundantly in the shola grasslands of Western Ghats in India. The Nilgiris, which literally means the blue mountains, got its name from the purplish blue flowers of Neelakurinji that blossoms gregariously once in 12 years. With the Neelakurinji attracting more and more tourists, the tourism industry in Kerala is expecting half-a-million tourists to the southern state in the Indian peninsula.
