Deep depression in Bay of Bengal likely to bring rains
A deep depression in Bay of Bengal indicates monsoon may revive after a lull. The phenomenon is leading to a wet spell in the eastern states.
Jharkhand and neighbouring areas have enjoyed good rains due to the advance of the monsoon in the north-westerly direction.
Director of Central Weather Observatory Medha Khole said on Monday that the West Coast enjoyed good rains and the wet spell could continue for another 2 to 3 days.

India's monsoon may be the worst since 1972
India's poor monsoon rains will improve slightly in their final month but will still end the June-September season about 20% below normal, a top official said, making this year's rainfall the worst since 1972.

Monsoon misery has returned to Mumbai. Many areas of the city are waterlogged, while some other areas saw traffic snarls.
There was knee-deep water in King circle, Matunga Circle, Hindmata junction, Panduang Budhkar Marg, Worli Naka, Haji Ali Junction, Peddar road while some railway tracks are also submerged.

Three days of torrential monsoon rain triggered floods across much of India during the first week of August 2006. The floods displaced more than half a million people and killed at least 80 in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh state.
