Ancient tower reopens to public
An ancient pagoda in Shanghai will open to the public for the first time since 1949 to mark its 1,759th birthday during the coming tourism
festival, Youth Daily said today.

Longhua Pagoda, in the city's south Xuhui District, was built in AD 247 during China's Wei, Shu Han and Wu dynasties, and is believed to be the most preserved ancient tower in Shanghai.
The pagoda will open to the public on September 21 at 1pm-4pm and on September 22, October 1, 2 and 3 from 9am-4pm, said an official from a Shanghai-based travel development company, which is in charge of the Longhua area.
