The year-end launch of RazakSAT, Malaysia's second low-orbit microsatellite, from Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands, has been postponed to next year.
The RazakSAT launch has been rescheduled as the United States Space Exploration Technology (SpaceX), the company commissioned by the Malaysian government to send the satellite into space, was unable to fix a suitable slot for the year-end launch.
The RM127 million RazakSAT capable of capturing aerial images of the earth at 2.5-metre resolution or higher, has been slotted for launch in the first quarter of 2008 using the company's Falcon 1 rocket from the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

RazakSAT, Malaysia's second micro-satellite will be blasted into space from Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands by the end of the year.
Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Ruddin Ab Ghani said the satellite would be launched by the Falcon-1 vehicle belonging to the United States' Space Exploration Technology (SpaceX).
He said going by its design and engineering work, the RazakSAT life span would be three years, normal for a satellite at low orbit.

The Malaysian/ South Korean RazakSat satellite has been listed for launch in the fourth quarter of 2006. Space X, a private company working to develop a cheap, small rocket to launch satellites, says the craft will be launched from Kwajalein Atol in the Pacific Ocean (9 N, 167 E)
Space X will be trying to place the satellite in a circular orbit at 685 kilometres altitude with seven degrees of inclination.
