The SinoSat-3 (Xinnuo-3) communications satellite atop a CZ-3A Chang Zheng-3A (CZ3A-14) Long March launch vehicle was successfully launched from the LC2 launch site at the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre at 00:08 Beijing time Friday, 16:08 UT Thursday.
The SinoSat-3 communications satellite is based on the DFH-3 platform and was built by the Chinese Academy for Space Technology, and has an operational life of 15 years. Sinosat-3 will operate from geosynchronous orbit at 125 degrees east, and provide satellite bandwidth and integrated solutions for video, Internet, data and voice communications services to customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
