China has asked space agencies across the world including the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for help in obtaining quake-related satellite data, for aiding relief operations in the country. China's disaster relief authority has sought domestic and international help in getting quake-related data collected by satellites, the state media reported.
Leading earthquake expert today said that although the location of Mondays earthquake was not surprising, it would be difficult to predict when another quake, like the one which hit China's Sichuan province, will happen again. Dr Alexander Densmore, of the Institute of Hazard and Risk Research at Durham University, has studied the Beichuan fault which was probably responsible for Mondays quake.
