Florida Tech has the state's largest research telescope, a 32-inch, computer driven device installed this week on the F.W. Olin Physical Science Building. The new telescope was installed Thursday at Florida Tech's Melbourne campus, Florida Today reported. The device, which cost $650,000, will be used in the school's astronomy and astrophysics courses. Florida Tech also operates a telescope in Tucson, Ariz., and is refurbishing a research telescope in Chile, the newspaper said. Until now, the largest telescope in the state had been the Rosemary Hill 30-inch telescope operated by the University of Florida.
