The Landsat 7 satellite captured this image of Nicholson Crater, in Canadas Northwest Territories on July 6, 2000. The white and light blue areas show ice formation on the lake.
The 12.5-kilometer-wide crater was formed 400 million years ago (Devonian or earlier) when a meteor impacted the Earth.
