Kangaroo Island is Australia's third largest island - after Tasmania and Melville Island. It is 112 kilometres southwest of Adelaide at the entrance of Gulf Saint Vincent.

A map produced by the South Australian Geological Survey shows for the first time the geological make-up of Kangaroo Island.
Launched yesterday by the State Government, the map shows the island's geology, landforms and mineral deposits.
