A balloon packed with scientific gadgets that travelled from south central Kentucky to the edge of space was designed by a group of college students from around the state. The latex balloon was launched just after noon on Monday from a field at the Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport. It reached a height of about 100,000 feet - nearly 20 miles up.
