The Blob is an independently made 1958 American horror/science-fiction film that depicts a giant amoeba-like alien that came from outer space and terrorises the small community of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

Rob Zombie will begin production of a second remake of "The Blob" next spring.
Inspired by the 1958 horror classic staring Steve McQueen, the film will serve as Zombie's next directing project following "Halloween II," which opens in theatres Friday. This is the second remake of "The Blob," the first coming in 1988 from director Chuck Russell ("The Scorpion King").
