Tropical Storm Fay came ashore in southwestern Florida Tuesday morning with 60 mph winds extending outwards 125 miles, forecasters in Miami said. After ripping through the Caribbean for four days, killing several, Fay came ashore with heavy rain around 5 a.m.
Severe weather over the Dominican Republic has strengthened into a tropical storm which is heading towards Cuba, US weather forecasters said. At 2100GMT on Friday Tropical Storm Fay was about 55km east of the Dominican Republic's capital, with winds of 65km/h.
