The Cline Observatory on the campus of Guilford Technical Community College has a new telescope that will give students a deeper look into space. The 16-inch Ritchey-Chretien reflector, which was produced by RC Optical Systems of Flagstaff, Arizona, replaces the Meade LX200 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector that has been used for 11 years, said Tom English, observatory director and astronomy instructor. The GTCC Foundation bought the device for the observatory.

Cline Observatory's First Open House Set for Sept. 21 Guilford College's Cline Observatory has scheduled its fall series of open houses, which will each feature a multimedia presentation followed by viewing through the observatory's telescope. Each event will be free and open to the public.
