The Cline Observatory on the campus of Guilford Technical Community College has a new telescope that will give students a deeper look into space.
The 16-inch Ritchey-Chretien  reflector, which was produced by RC Optical Systems of Flagstaff, Arizona, replaces the Meade LX200 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector that has been used for 11 years, said Tom English, observatory director and astronomy instructor. The GTCC Foundation bought the device for the observatory.

A new telescope has been installed in the Cline Observatory at Guilford Technical Community College.
The new 16-inch reflector replaces the previous telescope in use for the past 11 and a half years and viewed by more than 15,000 visitors, according to astronomy instructor Tom English.

Cline Observatory's First Open House Set for Sept. 21
Guilford College's Cline Observatory has scheduled its fall series of open houses, which will each feature a multimedia presentation followed by viewing through the observatory's telescope. Each event will be free and open to the public.
