A Basler BT-67 transport plane working with an international expedition has crashed in the Antarctic. The crew of three and a Russian polar explorer on board survived. Acordig to Artur Chilingarov, the Russian president's special representative for international cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic, the plane could not be repaired and that the plans for the international expedition could be afffected.
The flagship of the Russian polar fleet, the Academician Fyodorov, will set out on a 200-day scientific voyage on November 5 as part of the 54th Russian Antarctic expedition.
