A magnitude 12.4 supernova, 2008ge, was discovered by Pignata et al. (CHASE) on the 3rd October, 2008, in the barred-spiral galaxy NGC 1527 in the constellation Horologium.
The supernova is located 5"east 2".0 north from the center of the galaxy.
As yet the type is unknown.
