DobZilla, a massive 25-inch Newtonian Dobsonian reflector telescope owned by the Sunset Astronomy Society (SAS) will be making a return to the Tawases Saturday. The telescopes return is part of the 2009 International Year of Astronomy (IYA) event to he held at the Tawas Elks Lodge, 1002 Monument Rd., Tawas City.

As you may have already heard if you are watching the astronomical community, Meade has come up with their own line of Dobsonian telescopes - the Truss Tube Dobsonian LightBridge Telescope. Here's an overview of why we think this is a significant tool that you shouldn't miss. This monster on wheels comes in three main pieces, the upper cage, the base, and of course at the heart of the beast, the mirror cage. These can be disassembled and reassembled out on the field so easily that you can feel free to take it anywhere you need to go, without fear of it taking up much room with its space-saving design.
