Otter Creek Park to close Expansive Otter Creek Park with its sheer rock cliffs, cascading waterfalls and sweeping views of the Ohio River will close Jan. 2. A victim of the recession, the park served as a wooded escape for central Kentucky residents since the 1930s. The city of Louisville owns the 2,600-acre park, even though it is in Meade County near the Fort Knox Army post. The closure is one of many deep budget cuts by the city, which faces a $20 million budget shortfall.
