Comet C/2008 X1 (Hill) was discovered by R.E. Hill (Catalina Sky Survey) and announced on December 4, 2008. The preliminary orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on the 20th May, 2009, at a distance of 1.6 AU from the Sun.
