One of the world's leading theoretical physicists will be visiting Cardiff University to give a free public lecture (16 April 2009). Professor Kip Thorne will deliver a lecture, organised by the School of Physics and Astronomy, on 'The Warped Side of the Universe: From the Big Bang to Black Holes and Gravitational Waves'. Currently Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics at California Institute of Technology, Professor Thorne has earned international recognition for his contributions to the fields of gravitational physics, theoretical physics, astrophysics, black holes and cosmology. He has also served as mentor for around 40 PhD physicists, many of whom have gone on to become world leaders in their areas of expertise.
