Comet C/2009 K5 (McNaught) was discovered by Rob H. McNaught (Siding Spring Survey) on the 27th May, 2009
The discovery now takes Rob McNaughts discovery tally to 49 comets.
The preliminary orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on the  18th April, 2010 at a distance of approximately 1.4 AU from the Sun.
The comet will then be well placed  for northern hemisphere observers, and could reach magnitude 9.5 in April 2010.
