Confirmed:

A magnitude 16.3 supernova, 2009gd, was discovered by P. Marples, C. Drescher, G. Bock, M. Brown and J. Moser on the 9th June, 2009, in the (SBc) barred spiral galaxy NGC5967 in the constellation Apus.
The supernova is located 25" East and 25" South from the center of the galaxy. 
As yet the type is unknown.

Position(2000): RA 15 48 22.79, Dec -75 40 47.8
z = 0.010182

Peter Marples, Loganholme, Queensland, Australia, reports the discovery by Colin Drescher, Greg Bock, Matt Brown, Jeremy Moser, and himself of an apparent supernova (red mag 16.4) on 25-s unfiltered CCD images taken on June 9.42 with a 30-cm f/7 reflector.
