Comet P/2009 L2 (Yang-Gao) was discovered on the 15th June, 2009 by Chinese amateurs astronomers Rui Yang (Hangzhou) and Xing Gao (Urumqi) at the Xingming Observatory whilst carrying our work for the Xingming Observation Nova Survey. The preliminary orbital elements of comet indicate a perihelion passage on the 19th May, 2009, at a distance of approximately 1.3 AU from the Sun, and a 6.6 year orbital period.
