The 500 - 1100 metre wide comet P/2004 X1 (LINEAR) will make a close pass (67.5 Lunar Distances, 0.1734 AU), travelling at 14.01 km/s, to the Earth-Moon system on the 5th August, 2009.
Asteroid 2009 MB9 was discovered on the 8th July, 2009, by H. Lepez, G. Torre, Y. Buchiniz, and J. Torres. It was observed on the 2nd August by Rob H. McNaught (Siding Spring Survey) who announced that 2009 MB9, showed a small coma. Hidetaka Sato (Tokyo) showed that 2009 MB9 had orbital elements similar to the comet P/2004 X1 (LINEAR), discovered on the 7th December, 2004 by the LINEAR monitoring telescope. The orbital elements of the comet P/2009 MB9 (LINEAR) indicate a perihelion passage on the 1st September, 2009, at a distance of 0.78 AU from the Sun, and a 4.83 year orbital period.
UPDATE: The 500 - 1100 metre wide asteroid 2009 MB9 will make a close pass (67.5 Lunar Distances, 0.1735 AU), travelling at 14.02 km/s, to the Earth-Moon system on the 5th August, 2009.
