Authorities have evacuated almost one million people living on China's south-eastern coast ahead of the impending arrival of Typhoon Morakot. Some 473,000 residents of Zhejiang province have been evacuated as well as 480,000 from Fujian, Xinhua reports.
More than 20,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in southeast China's coast of Fujian Province where typhoon Morakot is predicted to land on Saturday.

Taiwan has already reported flooding rains, landslides, gusty winds and power outages on Friday, August 7 as Morakot was making landfall and crossing the island nation on its way to a final landfall in China on Saturday. BBC News reported some mountainous areas of northern Taiwan had already received up to 20 inches of rain. Taiwan has ordered airline flights cancelled and schools closed.
