A magnitude 18.1 supernova, 2009ix, was discovered on the 8th September, 2009, by the Lick Observatory Supernova Search, in an anonymous galaxy in the constellation Perseus. The supernova is located in 0.5" east and 2.8" north from the center of the host galaxy. As yet the type is unknown.
