The preliminary orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on the 10th October, 2009, at a distance of  2.15 AU from the Sun, and a 6.76 year orbital period.

Ephemeris

Ed ~ It should be mentioned that this is the first comet that has been discovered by the Sagra Sky Survey team.

An asteroidal object discovered on the 19th August, 2009, on CCD images taken by the 0.45-m f/2.8 reflector at the Observatorio Astronómico de La Sagra for the "La Sagra Sky Survey" (LSSS), has been discovered to show a cometary appearance.
The comet has no official designation yet.

T = 2009 Oct. 10.4284 TT Peri. = 5.9231
e = 0.399346 Node = 346.2506 2000.0
q = 2.149305 AU Incl. = 5.0628
a = 3.578274 AU n = 0.1456108 P = 6.77 years
