NASA and Spaceward Foundation announce week of Nov 2, 2009 as final date for the 4th Space Elevator Challenge.

From June to July 2009 NASA and Spaceward have conducted various stress tests of the laser and tether equipment intended to be used during this year's power beaming competition. As a result of the tests the final competition event had been postponed once more - now finally scheduled to be conducted in the week of November 2, 2009 on the premises of NASA Dryden Flight Research Centre located at Edwards Air Force Base in Californias Mojave Desert.
The 4th edition of the challenge offers a 1km vertical race track for space elevator climbers.
