The Met Office is to stop publishing seasonal forecasts, after it came in for criticism for failing to predict extreme weather.
It was berated for not foreseeing that the UK would suffer this cold winter or the last three wet summers in its seasonal forecasts.
The forecasts, four times a year, will be replaced by monthly predictions.

A second wave of moisture from the Pacific will bring periods of light to moderate rain and blustery winds well into tonight, with wind gusts hitting 30 to 40 mph late today, mostly in the eastern-most foothills of Orange County, says the National Weather Service. We're in the middle of a weekend of off-and-on rain that will drop an estimated half-inch to 1.5" of precipitation on the coastal plain and foothills before the weather starts to clear late Sunday, forecasters say.
