Supernova 2005cn

A magnitude 14.6 Supernova 2005cn was discovered on the 19th June 2005 by the Brazilian Supernovae Search (BRASS).
It was found in the galaxy NGC 5061 (Located 62" west and 103" north of the nucleus) .


Position(2000): R.A. = 13h18m00s.46, Dec. = -26°48'33".1

As yet the Type is unknown.

NGC 5061 is a 12th magnitude Elliptical galaxy in Hydra.


A nondescript neighbour to the attractive pair NGC 5078 - IC 879. The bright star above shines at mag 8.9
