The possible nova was discovered by J. Seach, (Australia), on three exposures taken with a Nikon D300 camera and standard 50 mm f/1.4 lens.

A possible magnitude 8.5 nova was discovered on the 20th January, 2010, in the constellation Sagittarius.

Position (2000): RA  18 07 26, Dec    -29 01 00
