Correction:
This was apparently not a supernova.
The supernovas spectrum indicates that this was a foreground star.
The supernova designation has been transferred to another discovery in the galaxy NGC 3690.

Confirmed:
A magnitude 15.2 supernova, 2010O, was discovered by A. Dimai and F. Martinelli (CROSS) on the 23rd January, 2010, in the spiral galaxy UGC 2953 in the constellation Camelopardalis.
The supernova is located 2.6" East and 1.3" North from the center of the galaxy.
As yet the type is unknown.

Position (2000): RA 04 07 47.27, Dec   +69° 48' 47.0"

A possible magnitude 15.8 supernova was discovered on the 23rd January, 2010, in the spiral galaxy UGC 2953 in the constellation Camelopardalis.
The supernova is located 3" East and 1" North from the center of the galaxy.

Position (2000): RA 04 07 47.27, Dec   +69° 48' 47.0"
