Clyde Tombaugh discovered the dwarf planet Pluto on Tuesday, February 18, 1930, using images taken the previous month.

The American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto in 1930 following Percival Lowell's prediction of the existence of a planet beyond Neptune.
Working at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona, Tombaugh carefully looked for the so-called Planet X using a device called a blink comparator.

Clyde William Tombaugh (February 4, 1906 - January 17, 1997) was an American astronomer.
Tombaugh is best known for discovering the dwarf planet Pluto in 1930, but also discovered many asteroids, and called for serious scientific research of unidentified flying objects.
