Visitors to an historic house and gardens in South Wales will soon have the chance to study the wonders of the heavens after work on building an astronomical observatory was completed.
The observatory at Dyffryn Gardens, in the Vale of Glamorgan, looks like a glorified garden shed - albeit one with a sliding roof.
However, once it is fitted out by the Cardiff Astronomical Society it will have everything needed for studying the stars.

But if youre concerned that the new building will overshadow the delights of Dyffryn Gardens, have no fear.
The proposal is for a structure that looks like a glorified garden shed - albeit one with a sliding roof.
