This weekend the International Space Station will turn itself to position ESA's SOLAR instrument for a better view of the Sun. It will be the first time the Station has changed attitude for scientific reasons alone. SOLAR has been monitoring our Sun's output since it was installed on ESA's Columbus laboratory module in February 2008. The package will celebrate its fifth anniversary next year. Read more
David Willetts, the Science Minister, agreed the deal at the European Space Agency's (ESA) Ministerial Council in Naples, where he pledged that it would lead to "major" contracts for British companies. Part of the agreement will see Britain make a £16m contribution to the International Space Station in the form of communications and propulsion technology for a new manned capsule named Orion. Spacewalkers reroute coolant lines to isolate leak
Spacewalking astronauts took a first step Thursday in fixing an elusive leak of toxic ammonia coolant at the International Space Station. Working at the far left end of the stations 357-foot central truss, the astronauts rerouted coolant lines to stop the flow of ammonia to a suspect radiator. Read more

Williams, Hoshide Outside to Complete MBSU Installation
Flight Engineers Suni Williams and Aki Hoshide began their second spacewalk in less than a week at 11:06 UT today. They are working to complete the installation of a Main Bus Switching Unit (MBSU) that was hampered last week by a possible misalignment and damaged bolt threads. Source
