A big name in the world of science, Jean-Pierre is an astrophysicist at the Paris-Meudon Observatory and research director at the French CNRS (The National Centre for Scientific Research). Specialised in black holes and cosmology, he has not only won countless academic awards but the 58-year-old also loves to get up on stage as a 'cosmology storyteller', a talent that won him the 2007 prize of 'European Science Communicator of the Year'.
The world renowned astrophysicist has an asteroid named after him; Asteroid (5523) Luminet.
