Perseid Meteor Shower Starts Tomorrow

Well, we're a sports blog of sorts, but what about activity rather than viewership? My favourite sport to do is hiking. Nature didn't make me much for explosiveness, but I have calves that could walk out the womb and scale Everest. July 23 marks the start of the Perseid Meteor Shower. The Perseids is active until August 24, and peaks August 12.

Hundreds of people, young and old, gathered at l-Ahrax tal-Mellieha last night to watch the annual celestial show of the Perseid meteor shower, commonly known as the Tears of St. Lawrence.

Clouds spoil southern stargazers' view
Amateur astronomers vented their frustration at overcast skies blotting out the Perseid meteor shower, an annual event that peaked this year as clouds swept over Britain.
Northern English and Scottish stargazers were rewarded with scenes of up to 80 meteors streaking overhead every hour, but those in the South were lucky to see any shooting stars between gaps in the clouds.
