Popeye Fontana loves collecting fossils, petrified wood, driftwood and rocks.  He has lots of shells, ferns and other items  as well as gallina, zinc, silver and lead he found in a collapsed miner's shack. One of the first things he discovered was a meteorite.  He was hunting bears in the Flathead when he noticed a large crater in a landslide; it was a circle about eight feet deep and ten feet wide "Like an ice cream cone, in the very bottom was a green and orange meteorite full of holes. I bent down and touched it with a stick, it was very heavy but I took it out and used it as a doorstop on my porch for years until I loaned it to a friend in Trail, never got it back".
