White ball of fire from sky not meteorite, specialist says
All that remains of the incident now is a small patch of burned ground about three feet wide and 15 feet long with no clues as to what exactly caused the grass to burn in the area. Louis Campbell and his wife, Clemmie, are not sure what they saw hit the ground at about 10:30 a.m. but Clemmie contacted the New London fire department as her husband rushed to put the fire out.
