Solar Eclipse Marathon Plans to hold a marathon in north Queensland to coincide with a solar eclipse in November are "foolhardy" and a health hazard, doctors say. Organisers expect the world's first Solar Eclipse Marathon to draw 2000 competitors from across the globe to Port Douglas in November 2012. The marathon is timed to start as the sun emerges from behind the moon at 6.42am. Experienced runners would be expected to complete the track by 9am, but inexperienced marathon runners might not cross the finish line until after midday.
