Movie review: 'Apollo 18' The documentary-style thriller about a secret lunar mission takes its time to build up to the spooky action.
Purporting to be edited from 84 hours of footage recently uploaded to the Internet - by whom, it is not stated - "Apollo 18" would have viewers believe that this is the true story of how NASA and the Department of Defense sent a secret final manned mission to the moon in 1974 after the lunar program had been officially shut down. A spokesperson from NASA wants viewers to know that the Dimension Films project is a work of fiction. While NASA will often work with filmmakers who are showcasing space or the moon on a film, the agency is backing away from Dimension Films' Apollo 18. The science fiction horror film, which opens in theaters Friday, makes the claim that the Apollo 18 mission, which was officially canceled, actually did go to the moon, but never returned. Source
